Sinful Spear Guide
For patch - 5.0.0
Guide Book
The Sinful Spear build takes advantage of the inherent debuff capability of the spear paired with the debuff extension of Sin.
This build will heavily rely on debuffs and dots.
Gearing
First of all the perks in the tables are ordered based on the most important perk in the first slot. So if you have to sacrifice any perk, you sacrifice perk 3.
This my ideal setup, but you dont have too run this exact setup. Here are some alternatives to certain items:
Weapons
Named | Item Type | Gem | Perk 1 | Perk 2 | Perk 3 | Acquisition-Links |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Spear | Japser (runeglass) | Penetrating Backstab | Plagued Crits | Attunement | ||

Optional
This my ideal setup, but you dont have too run this exact setup. Here are some alternatives to certain items:
-
Spears
Plagued crits can be replaced by Fortifying Perforate, Keen Speed, Rogue, Keenly Jagged, etc. You can find a good farmable spear here
-
Spear Weapon Perks
Leeching Cyclone is optional. It's a pretty decent option, but has sadly been pretty nerfed by the disease buffs.
-
Ring
You can use mortal empowerment instead of purifying heart.
Heartrune
So for heartrunes we have a couple options.
-
Rending Vines
Rending Vines is a fantastic offensive and defensive option.
-
Stoneform
Stoneform is bugged and hasnt been fixed yet. Avoid if possible.
A very good option, as it allows for much lower con.
Attributes
150 con is pretty safe, but with stoneform you can probably push it too 100.
Strenght | Dexterity | Intelligence | Focus | Constitution | Example Images |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
200 | 250 | 5 | 5 | 150 | example |
200 | 300 | 5 | 5 | 100 | example |
Resistance
We should be looking for 20% thrust resistance 24% fire resistance, 5% strike, 15% slash. We use 4 rubies, 2 onyxes and 2 moonstones to achieve this.
Weapon Tree
Spear
-
Standard Spear
Opposed to the name might suggest, this is the strongest and most consistent tree. I dont find it as fun as the other options, but I recommend it for most players.
-
W enjoyer
-
Arena build
Probably the most fun build, but pretty shit in group fights
Hatchet
-
Berserker
This has been the standard build for a long time and it still holds up. I dont find it as fun as the other option, but I recommend it for most players.
-
Full throwing
A really powerful option if you can aim. You do lose death defy, so i would recommend going a bit more con, but otherwise its pretty good.
